Kaik, I love my collection of comic books, from my youth, and it was an interesting comparison.
The Rebel.
my boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.
( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.
i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

Well a lot of good information here to contemplate over when I finish work tonight.
Personally I raised the subject because I do believe pokomon is a negative game basically about instant death. Having spoken with my son about this, i do NOT believe this particular game is harmful for him.But he has informed me some of his friends are playing computer games not suitable for his age group. We have agreed that he does not play on these games at his friends home. I trust him on that.
I must say I prefer it when he is flying a kite or playing football as I think this is much healthier and being good at sport can make a person so much more confident in themselfs. But i guess I must accept we are living in 2015. However I do like to believe that changes in the social order, should not beyond my parental skills, and that a balance can be found between what I consider harmful violent video games, and being over protective as a parent.
Most importantly he is going to have a bloody good education, something I was denied as a kid.
is anybody aware of any unbiased research that has been done on this subject.

so i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
Comment " The best evidence for it " not" being a hoax would be the silence of the Russians who would be able to tell and have an interest in exposing it"
Actually a Russian official has demanded an investigation inquiry in to the NASSA moon landing. Writing for Russian newspaper Izvestia Vladmir Markin, who sits on the investigative committee for the Russian government, said a probe should be launched in to the moon landing which took place between 1969-1972.
According to the Moscow times, Markins remarks were retaliation for the investigation launched by the U.S authorities in to corruption of F.I.F.A and Russia's suitability to host the 2018 World Cup.
NASA, admitted in 2009 they had wiped the origional footage of the 1969 mission. NASSA concluded it was likely they had accidentally been wiped and recorded over with satellite data. ( The Huffington Post U.K)

i ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.
I don't know the official reason, but I often reflect on how people think. One example is beards, they have become so modern, suddenly so many people have them. Now personally I don't think they are the most hygienic, but I think the report we had on the news recently that they can contain more germs than the average toilet was a tad off.
Anyway I remember a convention talk, given by a member of the governing body, and thinking hasn't he got anything better to talk about than designer stable.

Well as I started this thread, I feel it would be remiss of me not to report back
i have continued my research, and have found a very comprehensiive and in depth debate on the David Icke forum. ( yes David Icke, so shoot me down in flames,) But the thread has run over many years and contains some very interesting comments for and against.
I am sure you are familiar with the phaze " if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" but I look forward to further commentating on this thread, when I feel confident in my research.
i apologise to the forum owner if my mentioning a debate on an other forum has broken any house rules.

Vivianne I was looking at your thread " Biblical Prophecies that came true?
Your O.P " recently there have been claims made regarding prophecies that came true". and boy did you demand and rightly so hard facts including the date of fullfilment. You were similarly ruthless to posters on your thread " What is spirit ?" and the many posters who could not give a factual definitition of what " spirit" was were put in their place. I doubt in the history of this site was so much animosity and bad blood created by a thread. I felt for many of the posters who dared put forward an opinion on a public forum opposed to yours, as they were torn to threads by your logic and demanding of facts.
So what evidence can you support that man landed on the moon?
My guess is I will be insulted for the question, humiliated by you on a public forum, but you won't give evidence 100% to conclude man landed on the moon. So you have an opinion as everybody is entiltled to have when they do not have conclusive evidence.
Ok I'am standing up for you to shoot me down.

i was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.
i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.
a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

To answer your questions:-
Q.1. I left and my marriage is still in tact.
Q 2 . " are we both happy? if you mean in our religiouse relationship, our last fight was over the noice she made from the vacuum cleaner as I watched T.V. That may seem a silly comment but we both realised it was more fun than arguing religion.
I hope you can instigate similar arguments, so your man realises a good husband has house hold chores that are more important than religion.
Wish you the best.

wow shall i start with classic books and films?
no let's start with t.v and what was never high culture- " confederate flag gets dukes of hazard yanked" .
ok this was just entertainment to me, that i never recall being racist.
So coded the point is not as you said " businesses being concientious of what people want to watch. It's not a statement about what people can or can not watch"
The decision to pull the programme was based on " what people can or can not watch" as the decision to pull the show was based on people's attitude to the confederate flag.
off topic on another discussion forum " Frank Price" the former president of universal, commentated that in the 1970s they discovered that it was the woman not the man who made the decision what programme was watched on T.V. I only raised the point because I love the old T.V western shows and wondered why all the forums on the shows have mainly women members. Yes the old T.V westerns such as Gunsmoke, and Rawhide, were targeted to appeal to women first. ( I just found that interesting)
